New Hanover Records Contacts

This is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. The contacts below route questions to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the detention facility, city police departments, the Clerk, NCDAC, BOP, and ICE. Verify current hours and instructions with the office before traveling or submitting sensitive details.

Do not send personal case details to this private service expecting an official response. Only the originating agency can confirm custody, charges, release, or a booking photograph.

Sheriff and Detention

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office / Detention Division
3950 Juvenile Center Road
Castle Hayne, NC 28429
910-798-4200
Detention fax: 910-798-4163
Sheriff’s Office fax: 910-798-4212

Use the Sheriff’s Information Requests page and its Open Public Records Request portal for a booking record, arrest sheet, release record, or booking photograph. The page says Chapter 132 requests go through that route. No booking-photo fee or guaranteed response time was published. Ask about cost, timing, redactions, and the basis for any withholding.

Where Each Question Goes

  • Current county custody: Sheriff P2C jail inmate inquiry.
  • Wilmington incident: Wilmington P2C or the WPD front desk.
  • Carolina Beach incident: Carolina Beach Police at 1121 N Lake Park Boulevard, 910-458-2540.
  • Wrightsville Beach incident: Wrightsville Beach Police at 3 Bob Sawyer Drive, 910-256-7945. The town says approved reports are requested in person or by its stated contact route.
  • Court case: New Hanover Clerk, 316 Princess Street, Wilmington, NC 28401, 910-772-6600. Criminal magistrates are listed at 910-772-6619.
  • State custody: NCDAC Criminal Offender Searches.
  • Federal or immigration custody: BOP or ICE.

These offices hold different records. A county roster result cannot certify a warrant, a city report cannot establish custody, and a news story cannot supply the court disposition.

General Sheriff Messages

The Sheriff’s general Contact NHC form is monitored Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and warns that submitted email is public record. Do not use it for a booking request when the dedicated records portal applies. The separate 911 records route at 230 Government Center Drive, Suite 185, Wilmington, is for 911 call, audio, or CAD material, not booking photographs.
